The heat stuff (and why it matters)
These lamps run on high-voltage circuits to blast shortwave infrared radiation into your PET preforms. It’s a fast process. With a 400V tube, you get a concentrated heat footprint that gets the plastic to that critical “glass transition” temperature in seconds. If your voltage starts jumping around, you’ll notice it immediately—your bottle walls will be inconsistent. We’ve built these tubes to handle the constant, rapid cycling of the oven so the filaments don’t just burn out on you.
Built to take a beating
We use heavy-wall quartz glass. Why? Because constant on-off switching creates a massive amount of thermal shock. Cheap glass cracks; this doesn’t. As for the fit, we use R7s or Sk15 connectors. They’re standard plug-and-play. You just pop them in, and you get a tight electrical connection that prevents arcing at the terminals. Some of our versions even have a special coating that bounces the heat back toward the preform, so you aren’t just heating up the room.
Getting them installed
You don’t need to rewire your KSB 4000/6000 ovens. You just swap the lamps and go. One quick tip: high-wattage lamps put a lot of stress on your cooling fans. If your vents are clogged or your fans are struggling, the ambient temperature inside the oven will spike. That’s a shortcut to a dead lamp. **Also, keep your reflectors clean.**It sounds simple, but a dirty reflector kills your efficiency, no matter how good the lamp is. We’re just focusing on the physics. You get the same radiant flux as the OEM part, your bottles look great, and you keep more money in your pocket.
