We built this IR lamp for one reason: to finally solve the headaches on the Sidel SBO 10 and SIG Blomax lines. It goes right in as a drop-in replacement, but it tackles the real problem—structural weakness that shows up when things get hot, then hot again, then hot again. The goal is simple: run longer, with way fewer interruptions, without changing your machine setup.
Technical Deep-Dive: Power, Voltage, and Dimensions
Here’s the thing: PET blowing needs serious heat, fast. So we built this as a high-density unit, with 400V input and 2500W of output. That’s what it takes to get preforms warmed evenly and quickly. The tube is 300mm long, which matches the SBO 10 heater zone perfectly. That means you get even temperature across the whole length, without hot spots at the ends. This isn’t a gentle, low-power lamp. It’s sized to hit target temperatures fast. And yes, that means your machine’s cooling and electrical supply need to be up to the task. If the area around the heater gets too hot, the output starts to drift.
Material and Design: Why It Holds Up
Inside, you’ve got a halogen shortwave emitter housed in a quartz tube. Then we add a reflective coating to push more energy forward and keep the internals protected. Halogen chemistry helps keep the filament stable, so you don’t get that gradual dimming over time. The quartz body handles thermal shock without cracking, and the coating also helps shield nearby parts from stray IR. The R7s connector is proven in the field. It locks in solid, carries high current safely, and makes installation quick and repeatable. Inside, the support structure is reinforced, so the tube can take the constant vibration and heat cycling of a running line without giving up.
