
Getting Your SACMI Rotary Blowers Up to Temp, Faster
If you’ve ever run a high-speed PET line, you know the drill. The window to heat those preforms is tiny. On a SACMI rotary machine, if your lamps take too long to wake up, you’re looking at wasted material and a lot of frustration. That’s why we built our replacement lamps the way we did. We wanted to kill that annoying lag between flipping the switch and hitting peak heat. The secret is in the filament. We used a low-inertia tungsten filament. In plain English? It doesn’t take much energy to get it glowing. When you’re running a high-frequency system, these lamps ramp up almost instantly. This means you won’t get those half-baked preforms during the first few cycles after a machine stop. Now, you might be tempted to just crank the wattage to get more heat, but don’t do that. We’ve tuned these specifically for the Aoki/SACMI footprint. If you push them too hard, you’ll just burn out the filament. It’s all about finding that sweet spot where the lamp starts fast but actually lasts. Then there’s the glass. We use high-purity quartz because it lets short-wave IR radiation fly right through. Short-wave heat digs deeper into the PET wall and does it faster. The result? Your preforms spend less time in the oven. And we kept the installation dead simple. These are drop-in replacements. No hacking the housing, no messing with the wiring. We even reinforced the end-caps because rotary blowers vibrate like crazy, and we didn’t want your lamps shaking themselves to pieces. One quick heads-up, though. Because these lamps put out a lot of intense heat very quickly, your cooling has to be on point. Check your airflow. Clean your fans. If the oven gets too hot because the air isn’t moving, you’ll start seeing “pearlization” or deformed preforms. Keep your cooling tight, and these lamps will do the heavy lifting for you.
