It&amp;rsquo;s a headache you don&amp;rsquo;t need.&#xA;The goal is simple: make those lamps last longer so you can stop worrying about them.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The Voltage Trap&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Here is the thing about those high-wattage shortwave infrared lamps. To get polymers to soften quickly, you need massive heat density—usually from a 400V tube. But that puts a ton of stress on the filament.&#xA;If your voltage is jumping around, or if you&amp;rsquo;re pushing the lamp too hard to make up for an old oven, you&amp;rsquo;re basically asking the filament to burn out early. It&amp;rsquo;s a delicate balance. You&amp;rsquo;ve got to make sure the wattage matches your oven&amp;rsquo;s footprint exactly, or you&amp;rsquo;re just wasting money.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Glass and Connections&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;We use heavy-wall quartz glass because it can actually handle the shock of rapid heating and cooling without cracking.&#xA;Then there are the connectors—usually R7s or Sk15. We make them drop-in replacements so you can swap them out fast. But be careful here. A loose connection causes an arc, which creates a hot spot, and a hot spot kills the lamp.&lt;strong&gt;Make sure it&amp;rsquo;s tight.&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Heat vs. Lifespan&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;You can use high-intensity coatings to get more heat into the plastic, but there&amp;rsquo;s a trade-off. These coatings make the lamp run hotter on the inside.&#xA;If your cooling fans are clogged with dust or just aren&amp;rsquo;t powerful enough, the housing overheats and the quartz wears out faster. You get a better result on the product, sure, but you&amp;rsquo;ll be replacing lamps way more often.&#xA;The trick is to make sure your cooling can actually keep up with your wattage.
